About H.O.S.T.
To connect with individuals and families during a traumatic event in which they are displaced from their residence by providing a temporary haven. The focus of the HOST ministry is to show others the love of God through service during this unfortunate time. Individuals will receive a place to sleep, shower, eat and rest.
Story of H.O.S.T.
In the 15+ years since its construction, the Eastside Family Center has served our community in a variety of meaningful ways. In the fall of 2020, however, it became clear that even more could be done with the space we had been given. As severe ice and freezing temperatures made many living conditions unsafe, we partnered with Global United Urban Ministries to open our facility and provide shelter for individuals in need. In February 2021, we once again joined efforts, housing dozens of individuals for a two-week period during another time of extreme weather.
From these experiences, H.O.S.T. (Helping Others, Serving in Transition) was born. In the months that followed, we worked alongside the Midwest City Police Department, Midwest City Fire Department, Mid-Del Schools, and other community partners to develop and prepare this ministry. In the summer of 2021, the Eastside congregation officially opened the doors of H.O.S.T., offering housing, resources, and support to individuals navigating seasons of transition.
What began as a response to urgent need has grown into an ongoing mission: to provide care, stability, and hope to those who need it most.
